Why Smokey & Moo’s Treats Was Created

Smokey & Moo’s Treats was created out of both necessity and deep love for my own animals. I struggled to find pet treats that were truly simple, ethically processed, and free from unnecessary ingredients. Many options on the market were filled with preservatives, fillers, and ingredients I would never choose for my pets.

Instead of settling, I decided to create better treats myself. That decision became the foundation of Smokey & Moo’s Treats.

What Makes Smokey & Moo’s Treats Different

At Smokey & Moo’s Treats, every product is single-ingredient, minimally processed, and made using freeze-dried or dehydrated raw methods. These processes preserve nutrients while keeping ingredients as close to their natural state as possible.

Whenever available, ingredients are sourced locally from Pennsylvania, allowing me to observe quality, handling, and ethical practices firsthand. Transparency, simplicity, and trust are at the core of every product I make.

Ethical Sourcing and Sustainable Practices

Sustainability plays a major role in how Smokey & Moo’s Treats operates. We repurpose ingredients that would otherwise go to waste and believe in respecting the whole animal through responsible use. Reducing waste and honoring the animals that provide our ingredients allows us to create high-quality treats while minimizing environmental impact.

We also avoid unnecessary packaging and plastic whenever possible, because caring for pets and caring for the environment should go hand in hand.

A Family Business Inspired by Our Animals

Smokey & Moo’s Treats is truly a family business, even if our family happens to have four legs, paws, whiskers, and plenty of personality. We are a family of five, and each member played a role in shaping this business.

Smokey – The Beginning Smokey, our 4-year-old Siberian Husky, is the reason this journey began. Finding clean, ethical treats for him felt nearly impossible, and that frustration pushed me to start creating my own.	Smokey in his element(snow) with a chuck of raw venison hide.
Baby Patron – The Need for Freeze-Dried Foods Baby Patron, our 21-year-old orange long-haired tabby, inspired the need for freeze-dried foods. With only a few teeth left, he needed something easy to eat while still providing proper nutrition.	Baby Patron in hunt mode, enjoying his favorite time of year, Summer.
Real Patron – The Calm Supporter Real Patron, our 17-year-old orange medium-haired tabby, keeps things simple. He enjoys naps, affection, and the occasional mouse hunt.	Real Patron(the OG), exploring our first snow, his element is "outside".
Vexra – The Inspiration to Expand Cat Treats Vexra, our 8-month-old black Maine Coon, brings constant energy and curiosity. Her enthusiasm and endless taste-testing helped inspire the expansion of our cat treat line.	Vexra enjoying her new perch, she loves to explor and watch the world
Moo – The Heart Behind the Business And then there is me, Moo. My nieces and nephews have always called me Aunt Moo, and the name stuck. Smokey & Moo’s Treats became more than a business name. It became a reflection of who we are.	Smokey & I on a camping trip in Virginia 2023

One Person, Every Step of the Process

Behind Smokey & Moo’s Treats is just one person. I personally handle sourcing, processing, freeze-drying, dehydrating, packaging, and shipping every order.

I also manage marketing, photography, product listings, customer service, events, finances, and logistics. Nothing is outsourced or mass-produced. Every product is made with hands-on care and intention.
